AZ Clutch whine then burning smell

I noticed that after my car is warm that the clutch is making a whining noise when I am moving slowly in first and reverse. I then notice a burning smell when I park. Any help on how to further diagnose this is greatly appreciated. 1985 SE 5 Spd. manual.

welcome to the board.

does the noise go away when you press the pedal?

assuming it's not a matter of your technique, if you're smelling the clutch, then it probably slipping. get ready to change it soon.

Sounds like the clutch disk is toast. The whining sounds like the throw out bearing is giving as well.
