Arrow emissions questions

i just bout a rx7 and the smog pump was removed ans blocked off with a plate. then it has headers with a pre-silencer and 21/2 in piping to what looks like a cheap muffler... what will i need to do to help make sure this car can pass smog. im looking into getting the stock headers and catalyic converter and get a smog pump.. will this be all i need to do or is there another way?

Since you are in Ca you are going to want to reinstall all of the stock emission equipment and make sure that it is working.

That means you will need the following at a minimum since i have no idea if any other of the required equipment is still in tact.

1) Stock exhaust manifold
2) Air pump and belt
3). Air control valve (if missing) from side of intake manifold.
4) Catalytic converters. Front and main ones.

Have to make sure the EGR valve is still there and operational
All applicable solenoids that are part of the emission system.

Best thing to do is either buy a Haynes or Chilton manual or download a copy of your year FSM so that you can see what components you may or may not be missing,

Here is a link that will take you to the Factory service manuals that can be downloaded online.

Once you determine what components you may need and get those installed then we can go over the next step to helping you get through the test.

I'm in CA and I gotta take my s4 fc in to get smogged this weekend, but I think i got an exhaust leak. I just got the clutch replaced, so I'm thinking that I could need new gaskets for the exhaust pipings. i know I might be asking an easy question, but what causes are there for a leaky exhaust?
