MD Clock and Oil Pressure issues

Hey all, just curious:

My oil pressure gauge no longer works (Constantly reads at 0 psi), but an aftermarket gauge has been installed. For restoration purposes, I'd like to fix the original. Anyone know what causes these things to read at 0?

Also, the clock in the dash by the A/C controls no longer displays a time, but just is backlit orange when the headlights are on. Any ideas on how to fix that?

Thanks!

Here is the picture of the oil gauge (Wasn't used for this purpose, sorry for the steering wheel in the way, but you get the idea...)

oil pressure is usually as simple as securing and/or cleaning the connection at the sender. the sender itself can sometimes be the problem though.

I can't help with the clock.

The LCD screen on the clock has probably come loose. You can remove it from the dash and see if you can reseat it or find any obviously bad solder joints. But if the screen itself is bad, then replacement is the only option.

Thanks, will look into this. Is removing that part of the dash hard? (It's already badly cracked, but still...)

Sometimes I can be a bit....ignorant, to put it nicely. I just realized the problem. The old sender had cracked (I presume), so in it's place is a direct oil line to a hydraulic gauge. I suppose I could just get a new sender and hook it up?

All figured out, thanks. LCD apparently leaked. There is nothing left in it, and sender is gone. Solved.
