cleaning

Hey guys, I've been searching around here for a few days and didn't notice any threads containing cleaning tips or preferred cleaning products. For instance, it doesn't seem like a good idea to power wash the engine bay(95 FD) with all that is going on in there, and the weak electrical system ( or so I've read). True/false? How about the interior?

I feel like every time I use the search feature, I get a list of 10 page threads that have nothing to do with what I searched for. Is it just me? Am I doing something wrong?

For general purpose cleaning products (ie. soap, waxes, etc.) there are plenty of resources out on the Internet.

Never a good idea to powerwash the engine bay. You will force water into all kinds of areas. Just a nice degreaser like Castrol Super Clean (don't spray the alternator or any other bearings), a stiff bristle brush, and then a soft rinse off with the hose.

Thanks for the reply Aaron Cake. I know there are plenty of resources online regarding cleaning products, but I was more or less just curious of what the forum members here prefer...things like what headlight lense restorer works and which doesnt, etc. etc. Or just any tips/tricks anybody has picked up along the way like how to get into some of the super tight places like in between air vent fins for example.
I'm not talking simple wipe down cleaning, I'm talking super fine detail cleaning. Where are all my ocd people at? Haha

Well, it's not like cleaning the RX-7 is much different than any other vehicle. People will tend to use the products they are familiar with so whatever you used in the past will likely do the job for you now...

There is a Detailing subforum, which may be a good place to look.

compressed air and stiff bristle tooth brushes with a decent plastic/leather cleaner for your dash.

Compressed air when used properly gets in all the nooks and crannies that you simply cant with the hand /damp cloth method.

Be careful however, too much chemical with the air can be damaging to the electronics.
