Chrome Chipping
Hi everyone,
I appreciate all the content on this site- it's helped me out immensely since buying my '79. But now I am extremely stressed…
Today I disassembled my engine to refresh the seals, and was greeted with this damage on the rear rotor housing. I know the cracking is not ideal, but the chipping is what worries me most. The engine was running fine prior to disassembly- hot starts were not a problem. I am concerned that I somehow caused this during my disassembly.. and 12A rotor housings, particularly WITH the thermal reactor ports, seem very difficult to find.
My question is, could this housing be reused for a street-driven vehicle? I know it won't have top notch compression... but as long as its drive-able and passes smog I'd be happy.
