hey i have a '90 non turbo, stocked GXL wit a little kicker:the check engine lights up but goes out when im stepping on the gas. I think its Throttle Position Sensor but i could use any help i can get.

check the 02 sensor.. mine does the same thing.. havent fixed it yet.. if it turns on every once in awhile, its electrical.. if when your turn on your car the light is there till you turn off the car.. its the engine.. but i think its electrical for you just get a diagnostic on it.. and do it yourself

 

check engine light is emission related ,check the resistance on the sensors if they are good
