Car sputtered and died, no cel :/

Hey guys, new to the forum and new to RX-7, I just got my project 91 vert on the road. The car sat for 5 years in a building. All I had to do to get it running was replace the fuel pump, spark plugs, oil, and I chipped the ECU to bypass the oil metering pump. Also set tps to correct values, but still Idle at 1k rpm. I'm running one ounce per gallon of Amsoil premix. For about 2 weeks now I've been driving the car every day and I have had zero issues. now the temperature is gotten over the 80-degree mark a couple times and I've had a sporadic stall at highway speeds. The engine basically dies for a Split Second three or four times in a row. The check engine light flashes when this happens but then go straight away. Skip a week of no issues. Yesterday I drove for about an hour and a half in the Heat, the car sputtered, wouldn't idle, and then stalled. I started back up and it ran fine for a minute, but then repeated the process, sputtered, wouldn't go over 2.5k, lost power and stalled. I pulled over and checked codes, but there were none. Started car up after a few minutes of checking everything, and it ran fine for 10 minutes. I was pulling into my driveway and it happened again. It acts like it's starving of fuel, but the pump runs even when the car wouldn't start. What's odd is sometimes it started fine then died, or wouldn't start at all, then afterwards would run perfect for the trip back to my house. I have a fuel filter to replace tomorrow, but shouldn't it do this even with the temperature in the 70s like it has been? I will say this is my first rotary and I'm careful not to let it detonate, I have tried to baby it and one thing that bothers me is how hot the engine gets. The intake, upper hose and radiator are all too hot to touch, bottom hose is warm, and no boiling water. I've never had a rotary so I'm not sure if they are hotter than most cars or not, it just struck me as odd the few times I checked it. Thank yall for any advice you can give me! Tommy

How did you chip the ECU?
did you put in an RTEK ECU?

Yes, the rtek 1.0 just due to omp failure ( that was 8 months ago. I've had it a year, the only legally on the road for a couple weeks. Driven it plenty since I picked it up)

Update, just drove it 30 or so minutes back to where she belongs, 54 degrees and raining, car did ok. Sputtered a bit in deceleration and popped in the exhaust once or twice, but never acted up so it's definitely related to temperature. Popped the radiator cap and tried to make sure there was no air in the lines, never bubbled even when I applied throttle, only rose slightly at that. Top of intake, hose and radiator all hot as hell after running for awhile though. I still don't like that

Im reviving my thread almost a year to the day of having this issue. Life issues caught up to me (unfaithful women, nuff said) and I put messing with the car on hold. Now, once again, weather is hot again and my 7 is acting up as always. I've cleaned grounds, checked the coolant temperature sensor, ran good fuel, but the one new thing i have to add is this; I pulled the intake and noticed that the 6 port actuators are there, but the rods are not. This car was stock as far as i know, I have yet to find any other mods done to it. What am i dealing with here? Thanks again!

UPDATE - Checked the alternator, no problems there other than a more loose than acceptable belt, which i changed. I removed the rats nest setup due to the headache i was already having with it. Noticed that fuel wasnt under a ton of pressure on the rail when i removed the injectors. When i put it all back together, I couldn't get it to start. No fuel was running from the pump. Checked relay, fuses, all ok. Checked voltage at the pump, ok. Checked pump with leads directly to the battery, nothing. This was an Airtex unit bought last year....You get what you pay for. I'm under the assumption that it was on its way out last year, even being a new pump only a few months old. Time to go the correct route and hope for the best!
