car having hard time going past 3k rpm and overheated

hi im new to the forum and need some help here, i just got my 86 rx7 fc na 2 weeks ago and started loving it, but problems just kept comming up, and right now i have a major problem

its having a bad time starting, it wont go past 3rpm it sputters i think and just vibrates, so i parked it kept the engine on tried pressing the gas once in a while to see if its good to go, so it made it past 3rpm in idle for 10minutes staying on the side, i drove it back home which was just about 5 minutes away to where i was parked, and i just noticed water temp was at 220 and just rised a little while making it closer to home, then right when i parked it it got to about 240, and steam came out of the hose that connects to the radiator,

when i got it i drove it home which was a 2 hour drive and made it back perfectly with a temp of about 160-180, and after 2 weeks of using it as my dd it never had any problems till last night, wont go above 3rpm

Check your grounds:

Make sure the pressure/boost sensor is plugged in (passenger shock tower).

Don't overheat the engine like that. You can easily damage the water o-rings, requiring a rebuild.

Check your cooling system as well:

Check your catalytic converter too to see that it isn't plugged up!

Your '86 doesn't have limp mode.

Looks like hacked stereo wiring.

Did you perform any of the checks suggested in this thread?
