Ok I'm new to this website and I just got a rx7 that was not driven in 4 years and they could not get it started. I fixed the problem the fuel pump wouldn't work and the fuel tank has been cleaned.
After that is started and idle around 3 since it hasn't been started in 4 years it was reving good and when I seem to put it in gear and drive it its boggs and cuts off almost everytime. And not it will only idle for about 20 seconds before cutting off.
I replaced the mass air flow sensor and that did not help what could be the problem? It was reving good before and idle to 6 and 7rpm easy? And ideas?

The injectors will need to be cleaned regardless.

 

its a 87 s4 2+2 and my guess is the fuel filter but i dont know to much about these cars.

 

The whole fuel system needs to be cleaned/replaced. You'll probably need a new fuel pump, if not now, then very soon. Flush out all the fuel lines. The filter is on the driver frame rail, at the bottom of the firewall. Flush out the lines at the engine as well. All 4 injectors will need to be sent to an injection shop for cleaning.

 

yea i already replaced the fuel pump thats how i got it started. Thanks for the info hope this works. And of that doesnt ill just get new injecters

 

There's usually no need for new injectors. Just have yours cleaned by an injection shop.

 

all 4 injecters or the 2 that are easy to get 2? cause i never messed with rx7s im used to hondas so never had to open up a intake manifold to get to injecters.
