Cannot pull the choke

I just picked up a 1979, and I cannot pull the choke. The car has been sitting for a couple of years without being started. I did notice that the green solenoid has been removed, and it has something to do with the choke. (Only the white and blue solenoids are left)
Any thoughts?

Todd

Yes. The cable may be frozen and you need to download a copy of the Factory Service Manual from the FAQ sticky at the top of this section.

The choke it operated via the sensor in the back of the water pump. It engaged a magnet in the choke. Once the car is at temp, the sensor value toggles and releases the choke.

If you can't pull the choke out at all, then it's a frozen cable most likely. If you can pull the choke out but it pop back in, the sensor is either not hooked up or bad.

I'm trying not to be daft, but when you say frozen, do you mean ice frozen, or seized up?
