can i give the old fd a couple shots to loseing her up?

i was just wondering if it was ok to seafoam my rx7 fd?

it has about 86,000 miles on it and from what i can tell the owners before me didnt do nothing to this car. It still had the stock air and fuel filter form 93 ...so it had a tough life. but it runs strong and has about 93 94 compression on the rotors.

and by seafoaming it i mean threw the engine not the gas tank. my car is fully stock just a new hks bov.

thanks,
brian

I'm not sure why one would run SeaFoam through anything.

Do not seafoam a turbo rotary. It will blow the motor.

Do the basic maintenance - plugs wires, oil, coolant, trans oil, diff oil, fuel filter, belts

Mazda Zoom Power engine cleaner works wonders on the Renesis( You can pick it up from a local Mozda dealer), and it even brought the motor in my Na 88 gxl back to life. But, I agree with these guys. Basic maintanece and just drive the car.

For the fuel, run a bottle of BG 44K Fuel Injection System cleaner.

For the engine: http://www.rotaryresurrection.com/3r...injection.html

For the oil, just change the oil & filter. Also, don't neglect the cooling system.

BG makes some decent products.

seafoam works wonders on automatic transmissions & lines, but I wouldn't run it through an engine as you don't know how the various seals will react to a volatile compound like that.

Well, I can say that Camry owners SWEAR by seafoam...I have used it in my 94 camry I4 A/T and it worked VERY well...we use seafoam on the throttle body, in the fuel, in the tranny, in the oil and even pull off vacuum lines and have the engine suck it straight into the combustion chambers...

I can say, on THOSE cars, it does work VERY well. Although there may be differences between materials of seals between the cars that IDK about that could make it a very bad product for these cars...so, use at your own risk as usual...
