Can anyone help me?Fuel issue?.1980.
Hi all,
Im new here, and thought this would be the best place to come to find someone to help me sort out my issue....
I have a 1980 series 1...recently got the body restored on it. When picked up to go, it was running fine, we drove it on the truck.
On its return 2 weeks later, it could not be started ( fuel pump, also I am satisfied the guys who restored it are not responsible )
I replaced the fuel pump, and running well......The weird thing is, it dies about every 400 metres...its getting good fuel flow, and is firing well when running. The car has the sensation of running out of fuel......cuts out, yet can be started again immediately.
Is it an electrical issue? leads? coil? plugs look great and burning very clean...starts very easely at any time..
If someone may have an idea to point me in the right direction, id be very greatfull....

Is it worth mentioning, the battery went flat, and I re-charged it....mybe someone has installed an after market anti-theft thing?....im clasping at stars now,,..

the only thing i can think of would be to attach gauges that you can monitor while driving and see what's taking place at the 400 m mark - fuel pressure, current (to the pump). see if you can get any more specific data to work with.
i'm not aware of a security system fuel cut that allows immediate restarting, but i sure as hell don't claim to know everything about anything.
check if the fuel lines somehow got reversed (shouldn't be considering they are two different sizes), but it was a random thought i just had.

I had a snowmobile that was acting the same last winter, had just cleaned the carb would run great but then would die when I got after it. Turns out I had kinked the fuel line when I reinstalled the carb. I would make sure that none of your lines are collapsed internally or kinked
