A/C power loss 13B rew

Anyone know how much power loss you get on a stock 13brew motor when using the A/C?

Remember, the A/C doesn't drag on the engine unless the compressor is engaged. In that case, it's about 10HP to drive the compressor.

The reason why i ask is im thinking of trying a water to air intercooler but utilizing the a/c evap to chil the water. Just didnt know if the power loss would be too great to overcome any benifits.

You'd have to find the cooling capacity of the AC system, then compare it with the heat rejection of the intercooler. I doubt it will work well though. I'd suspect there is far more heat in the intake air then the AC system can deal with.

Most of these intercooler cooling kits spray CO2 or Nitrous as a total loss system. Latent heat sink of evaporation and all that.

Whats a optimal air intake temp? im sure if i get it to refrigerate a tank of glycol its going to better than a regular air to air front mounted. Ill cycle the a/c clutch on the glycol temp. You know anyone who has tried this?

Optimal intake temp is as low as you can get it.

I've never heard of anyone using the AC to cool a tank of fluid, then using an air to water cooler. Probably good for drag racing, much like an ice chest is, but for continuous use, I doubt the AC has that kind of capacity.
