Question Buying an 86, but car doesnt run.*Please Read**

Im looking at an FC for 700. It doesn't run and recently died on the guy. Im posting here for some guidance as to what to expect to fix. I talked to the guy and this is what he said,

"Driving down the freeway, the car started to sputter and would cut out then pick back up. Then lost all throttle response. As of now, all it does is fire up, then dies, tried starting fluid once and it ran fine. Replaced fuel pump and filter and MAF, checked circuit opening relay and main relay, all seem fine. Has spark just not getting fuel. Not sure what's wrong."

If the engine isnt getting fuel, that would mean something may be wrong with the ecu?

It could be a lot of things.

I would still consider the AFM or associated wiring to be an issue. The pins can get damaged in the harness and will cause the symptoms described.

Injector resistors could be another cause.

A stuck injector can cause this.

I would check what I suggested.

Have someone crank the engine while you listen to the primary injectors with a stethoscope.
