bush button start
Im haveing some problems wireing up my starter to a push button. I basicly have the power and ground wires to the battery hooked up and from the stud on the starter solinoid were the battery power gets hooked up I ran about a 16 gauge wire to my push button then from the push button I ran a wire to the tab in between the two studs and the stud that the wire going in to the starter goes but when I push the push button the starter just spins then when I take the connection off the stud with the wires that go in to the starter and hit the button the starter just kicks out. but I have yet to get it to do both when I hit the button. now my first question is do I have it wired right? and my second question is is my gauge of wire just to small to kick the starter out and spine it?

Ok...My Girlfriend had a BUSH Button!
.
Most likely that you do not have KEY ON when you give the solenoid power.
Key on,take the solenoid wire up top of the starter and give it 12 volts and that car will start.
Wire the switch In Between the Single wire on top( solenoid). One side of the switch to the solenoid, the other to 12 volts(battery).Hit the switch the starter will roll over. ..BUT you need to have the Key in the ON position so the engine/ecu/injectors etc get power to run.
Do not fart with the big *** nut stuff on the main body of the starter,It already gets 12 volts all the time.It is the solenoid that kicks in to spin the starter.

NO NO NO!!! this isnt one of those gay *** push buttons some one puts in there car that says push to start and you need the key on and all that bull ****. its just a plain and simple push button like what you would put in a race car. I actully figured it out I just ran a wire from the stud that gets battery power to the switch then from the switch to the male connecter/ tab in between the studs, and I used about a 10 gauge wire and it kicks out and spines every time.
