FC I assume?

The harness will be obviously burned at the connector

To test the switch, look up the voltage measurements in the FSM:

The 15 amp Illumination fuse powers the dimmer control and the tail lights. The White/Green wire is the wire powered by this fuse and this wire is found at the pigtail harness of the headlight switch. Voltage on the G/W wire is constant and also look for burn marks at the plug. The Red/Black wire in the harness receives voltage from the W/G wire when the **** is turned. If you have constant voltage on the W/G but no voltage on the R/B wire after the **** has been turned then the contact switch inside the headlight switch is poor. The Red/Green wire also receives voltage from W/G when the **** is turned and this causes the gauge lights to light up in addition to the little bulbs in the turn switch lever, hazard switch button, wiper switch and cigarette lighter, etc.
