broke my key in the ignition! swap possible?

Well heres the back ground got a 1989 convertible and have only one key stupidly.... but it happens and i noticed it had a crack in it one day but thought nothing of it just was being careful with it. Well i pulled my keys out of my pocket and aure enough key was folded up. I was at work about 45 mins from home so i put the broke my half in the ignition hoping itd still start and run in two pieces. Suprisingly it did! Got home just fine and works every time so far... but i have a ignition tumbler and switch from a 86 coupe parts car i got rid of and i got the doors with the locks. So was wondering if s4-s5 ignitions are the same and swapable want to swap the whole thing. And then do the door locks which i heard are swapable but not positive ive never done it. Any answers or advice will be appreciated.

Thanks

you can swap ignitions.
You could always pull the ignition assembly off and get a locksmith to take the old key out.Save you from changing all locks,if that is what you end up doing
You could change ignition, use one key for ignition, and the old key for doors and hatch??
possibilities huh?.

locksmith

any reputable locksmith should be able to make you a new key on spot even without your old one to copy. Just takes a little time and effort, and prolly more along the expensive route.

as above had said, take the car to a locksmith, or bring a locksmith to check the car out. he should be able to get it out, and make you a new key
