Brake Master Cylinder Leak Fixes
Okay so my JDM FC (Turbo) is leaking brake fluid from the rubber grommets right underneath the reservoir. After some searching it is apparent that this is a very common problem.
It doesn't leak much when the car warms up as the heat seems to be expanding the rubber and sealing it better but it's been parked in a cold garage the last couple of weeks and has leaked from "Max" to the "Min" Line.
Current situation: I have a new USDM brake master cylinder for the Naturally Aspirated rx7. The reservoir tank is a different shape and one of the outlets is on the wrong side as the JDM BMC is located on the right side of the car.
With what I have, I have come up with the following options.
Make the USDM bmc work by running a rubber line to the outlet.
Remove the rubber grommets from the USDM and stick them in my current BMC.
- Can this be done without removing the actual cylinder?
-- in other words, can I just drain the reservoir, pull the reservoir out, replace grommets, stick reservoir back in? Seems like the easiest solution.
---> Can anyone point me to where I can purchase the grommets so I don't have to resort to pulling the ones in the new BMC?
Last ditch effort: I try to zip tie the reservoir down tighter to the cylinder. I am probably going to try this while I figure out a long term solution.
What do you guys think? Any other suggestions/ideas would be greatly appreciated!
