Brake leak/Engine stalling

Hey guys, I've looked everywhere online for the answers to my questions. Hoping to get some answers here
I'm looking at an FC for my friend before he buys it. It's an 88 gxl. Everything is in good condition, body is great and interior is nearly flawless. I has 76000 miles. only things that seem to be wrong are that the brake pedal drops to the floor and it dies when the brakes are applied. After the first attempt at driving, brake fluid was added and it started up and ran fine, it was driven up the road and it happened again. From the research I've done so far it sounds like the two could be related. I'm looking for some confirmation on this. If so, can you explain why it is happening and if not, what do you guys think it could be? the battery was shot and it was low on oil also, if this makes a difference. thanks!

only common thread between the two i can think of is the brake booster. i know of them failing, but i really can't say i can speak intelligently on the symptoms of a dead booster. someone else would have to chime in. bottomline though is i suspect it will probably need a new booster and master cylinder based on what you said.

is it possible the braking system is the cause of the engine stalling? or is more likely something else?

that was my point. i think if the booster diaphragm is ruptured you'll essentially end up with a huge vacuum leak. however, i've never had to deal with one before so i'm not 100% positive.
