Bov Question

Hey guys i'm new to the rx7, Thinking about doing a custom air filter setup and wouldn't reroute the bov's back to the pipes, Would this cause the CEL to come on and would it run right on a stock ecu?

Or what would you recommend doing, Im open to hear everyone insight.

Without knowing what Series of CAR you are working on it is anyone's guess.
Please read the FIRST thread at the top of this Section.

The 93+ rx7 runs a MAP sensor and not a MAF so removing the BOV from the intake tract will not effect engine performance.

However, the stock ecu is not very accommodating to large increases in air flow, it creates a lean condition where there isn't enough fuel. An intake alone will not be a problem for the stock ecu but compound that with an opened up exhaust and it could spell disaster. Do some research before heavily modifying the car to keep from leaning out.

Another thing to note is the stock bov is a diaphragm type and not the typical spring style that most aftermarkets are. As such, the stock bov will dump hot air into your engine bay unless you are running around with enough throttle to keep the boost high. Opening up the bov to the air will also produce the iconic pssht sound whether it is stock or not. Just something to keep in mind if you are trying to stay more subtle.
