FL Bose system

The Bose system in my car doesn't work, the CD/Cassette Players don't work only the radio, only the passengers door speaker works. So I'm looking into replacing everything, Radio, Speakers, but I don't know what to do about Acoustic Wave Music System, I was also wondering if I could replace that long antenna. I was also wondering what size are the door speakers.
Any help would be appreciated, Thanks.

You have a few options with Bose. The challenge is that you can't just drop in a standard headunit or standard speakers.*

1) Repair the headunit and speakers. I've repaired the speakers by replacing the capacitors on the amp boards. If you have a soldering iron and some time it's an interesting little project. I'm told the headunit isn't as easy but you can buy a used one pretty easily and it can come from any car with Bose audio.

2) Replace everything. You can keep the wiring. You'll be able to get rid of the big bass tube in the trunk.

* Scosche and a couple of other companies make an adapter that allows a Bose headunit to drive standard speakers. But you'd need to replace all of the speakers.

best bet rewire all of it bose isnt that great especially 16 years later , a bose system runs each speaker at 2.48 ohms. so if you replace the deck you blow the speakers(assuming you go with a new deck because if you buy a used one there isnt a warranty and your last one failed along with thousands of others.)so if you replace the speakers you fry the deck because average speakers are 4 ohm

what you do is replace the deck with a wiring harness install kit( very simple dont let the wires fool you) then when you get that done replace the speakers but bypass the amps take the negative entering the amp and put it to the speaker , same with positive. A full deck and speaker install takes about three hours 4 if re-running wires. then again if you arent good with wiring or schematics leave this to the pros thats why we get paid to do this!

Does the capacitors usually fail to make the amp boards not work? I get audio from my drivers side door but not my passanger I get a sound like the speaker is blown but I looked it up and it looks like its the amp.

Also you can send your parts to Bose from what I heard and they will replace/repair you damaged unit but the above two options seem cheaper.

Note: I am not well versed in electrical terminology btw.
