NV Bose scratchy sound fix

I just fixed the Bose scratchysqueeling sound in my FD. Mine would make the dreaded Bose screeching sound most of the time and I just left the radio off. Finally with the help of a friend we started to trouble shoot to see if it was a speaker or an amp.

My car does not have the rear Bose box setup so it was easier to trouble shoot the 2 door speaker/amp.

1. Turn on the radio and using the balance see if either the left or right channel is bad. On mine the screeching noise was the same.

2. Turn down the volume and listen again. On mine with the volume down to minimum the screeching noise was only coming from the right side.

3 Remove the door panel to get at the bad speaker/amp. Substitute a known good speaker and try again. On mine the screech sound was still there.

4 Replace the bad amp.

5. My Bose system now sounds great. Now I want to find and buy the original Bose rear speaker setup.

I have had success rebuilding the amps by replacing the on-board capacitors.
