Bonehead Move!

Alright, so I feel like an idiot right now. I went to go get my car all washed up (I usually wash it myself, but it's getting very hot out) at a local Francis and Sons carwash. Just wanted a full exterior hand wash and wax, no machines. They obliged, and 15 minutes later I'm walking towards my sparkling, pristine FD. They had parked it for me, and me being in a hurry...didn't check to see if they parked it in gear. Namely because I never park my car in gear on a flat surface...only on a hill. Anyway I started my car, and instinctively let my foot off the clutch. SCRAPEEEE- ate a parking bump. So, me, all bummed out at this, and slightly butthurt (because face it, it was my fault for not checking) got out and checked the damage. Front bumper was untouched, however...the front lip spoiler looked like someone took a cheese grater to it. My question is...has anyone ever been successful in just resurfacing the front lip spoiler? Or should I just drop the cash for a new one? Minor cosmetic issue, but it really does "spoil" the look of the car.

I think at this point, since it is already pretty damaged it seems like, you should just go ahead and try to resurface it. Worse case you ruin it further and just have to buy a new one.

The texture doesn't lend itself to re-surfacing. You can't duplicate it. The best I've been able to do to hide the odd minor scrapes is use some old-fashioned armorall over the black plastic to camoflage it. When it got too bad I bought another.

I figured as much. I was hoping I might be able to completely sand it down and maybe paint match it to my body color, but honestly I'd rather just buy a new one. They aren't expensive, and very easy to install.
