Blue Smoke on start up

Hey everyone, i'm new to the site and i'm also a relatively new FD owner. I drove my 93 FD around for a couple months last summer and have had it parked since the end of october 2008. The car would blow out blue smoke ( I realize that a little oil being burned on start up is normal) for a few minutes after start-up. Once the car was warmed up everything was fine. Apparently the engine and turbos were re-built about 8500km ago. I was reading that coolant may be leaking into the combustion chamber?? I have started it up every couple weeks to let it run over the winter with this blue smoke being expelled each time on start up. I also am smelling what I believe is gasoline. I know the vehicle was burning somewhat rich, but it almost seems as if the smell is getting stronger. To make matters worse I noticed my coolant light come on today as i let it run for about 20 minutes this afternoon.. I do need a new coolant reservoir tank as my current one is cracked and not holding any, could this be my problem?..

Starting the car every few weeks is one of the worst things you can do. Either store the car properly (http://www.aaroncake.net/rx-7/storage.htm ) or drive it. There is no in between.

Blue smoke is usually oil smoke. It could be coming from the engine or the turbos. If the engine was rebuilt using used oil o-ring carriers, it is possible that it is a bit leaky. When the engine sits, oil drips past and collects at the bottom, which is then burned. If the car is running a bit rich, then fuel wash will tend to exaggerate this.

Cooling smoke is a sweet smelling steam. Find the leak that is causing your low coolant buzzer.
