Which is better an FD or T2 tranny?
I've got an 85 GSL=SE and I'm starting to have problems with my tranny.A friend offered me an FD tranny but I'm not sure what to do.Should I get it or find a T2 one?

Well, technically, the FD transmission is better for a number of reasons. However it does have a pull-type clutch and the mounting arrangement is different then all previous transmissions (power plant frame).
The TII transmission will be a more straightforward swap but be aware that you will need the flywheel, clutch stuff, slave cylinder and starter from it as well. You'll also need a custom driveshaft to match it with your rear end.

I'm running a T2 tranny in my FB.
Ditto on the previous post about flywheel, clutch, etc. My setup is all T2 hardware with a custom spicer driveshaft. Absolutely zero problems with VERY abusive driving putting roughly 225hp to the wheel.
You will also need to cut the transmission tunnel because the T2 shifter pokes up further back.
Can't speak for the FD tranny.
Hope this helps--TMM
