SC Best Short Shifter?

Hey guys, i've got an '86 N/t Sport and have been wondering which short shifter to buy or if i should buy one at all. I've heard that it increases effort and stuff like that? Idk, i really need to know the advantages and disadvantages, and which one to buy. I'm looking at the Corksport one and also the one that Mazdatrix carries. Help?

If you want to save some money you can go with one from a Miata. I have heard with slightly sanding down a bushing they fit great. You should be able to find it with a quick search. For a good bolt in and go, both those companies have a good reputation.
Good luck,
-Robert.

I'm pretty sure B&M used to make one for the s3 rx7 but it has been discontinued for around 8 years. The 2nd gen shifter will not fit 1st gen boxes.

I was just gonna ask about those. From the $40 ones I've seen they look similiar to the ones from mazdatrix. Whats so bad about them?

A generic miata short shifter kit used in this write-up in the 2nd gen archive. https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-gen-archive-72/miata-short-throw-shifter-writeup-445801/ They do need a little modification to fit, but otherwise, it goes together almost the same as the mazdatrix video.

I bought one a couple years ago for my old MK3 Supra. One day, a few weeks later, I spiritedly shifted into 3rd and ended up almost putting the shift **** thru the radio. It snapped in half.
Just my personal experience. Maybe they're not all the same.

Just decided against one because i finally found a company that sells custom drilled, nice shift ***** for any thread pattern. This was the main reason i was looking at the short shifter, because the thread is 10x1.25 instead of my odd 12x1.5 on my '86 S4.
