Best place to buy a JDM engine

Hey guys, I will finally be getting my car this weekend. It only took the transporter 2 weeks, but oh well. It's a 91 shell (not sure of the model but it's defintely not a t2). It's supposedly only missing the engine, trans, exhaust and carpet, i'll inventory when it gets here. I have decided instead of undertaking a rebuild at the moment, i will be buying a used JDM engine. i put one in my prelude and with the exception of changing a couple of seals it's run great. My question is essentially as follows: where is the best place that anyone has had good luck with buying these engines (as most places don't even offer warranties on rotarties, and i'm certain no one has a proper compression tester for these either)? I am pretty sure this is my best bet for the time being. Most places are right around $1600 for engine, trans, harness, and ecu. pieced together usdm abused parts would cost about that, any insigh would be greatly appreciated.

Also, will an open diff suffice (not go boom) with a turbo engine for a while?

PM Forum Member "Japan2LA". He is very reputable when it comes to getting a JDM T2 Engine and warranties his engines for 30 days I believe (30 Day Start-Up Guarantee. Your open Diff should be fine. I'm running about 240HP on my NA Diff and I haven't had any issues with the car. Make sure you save your NA harness. You'll want to use it for your swap, unless Japan2LA includes it with his engine. Just PM him and he'll let you know what he has.

Thank you so much. I've been very nervous about whom to buy these engines from; due to their exotic nature the importers are affraid of them.

i sent him a PM. just awaiting his reply. I really hope he can work this for me.

the only difference in the jdm engine (besides possibly the wiring harness entereing the opposite side for the firewall, someone confirm?) is that they're usually more readily available and usually have lower milage if you're buying used. considering all i've ever heard about rotaries is on a time line, the lower the milage the better. as far as i can tell though, the engines here for the s5 were the same as the jdm ones.

i recommend EliteJDM the owners name is Nick... he fly's to japan to drive the cars before they're taken apart and shipped here so he knows that they're good running cars.
