Best mufflers for rotary
I'm making a whole new exhaust for my RX4 and trying to find suitable mufflers. My engine is a mild street port with original hitatchi carb so I'm not after big power but something quiet and long lasting instead.
I've already made short headers from stainless and planing to make rest of the system from 2,25" stainless.
Which mufflers would you guys recommend?

Racing Beat is a proven muffler. They make universal cans so you can make a system up out of the muffler cannister itself and add your own pipe, and tip.
Do not get anything with a Glass pack inside.

Racing Beat will not ship to Finland. Contact Mazdatrix to see if they will sell you a Racing Beat muffler.

Getting racing beat mufflers wouldn't be a problem. I'm just worried it being loud. Does anyone have experience on flowmaster, magnaflow, gipson, borla mufflers? They all make stainless mufflers without packing.

Honestly, any sort of performance straight through muffler will inevitably be loud. It's well worth it that if it's going to aftermarket to get smething built for rotaries (ie. racing beat). I only say this because all performance mufflers use essentially the same theory, good flow, good power, and good sound equals good sell. I've seen people use glass pack (LOUD and unbearable), ebay cans (price is good but still loud), and racing beat ( mildly loud but deeper tone). My gues would be that all others, magnaflow and flowmaster included would give about the same tone as the racing beat mufflers but may possibly restrict?...? Racing beat builds a street muffler last time I checked, my bet would be to start or to email them yourself and then order through another site if you find what you're looking for.

I run Racing Beat pre-silencers into a HushPower and its not too loud with great flow/performance.... Make sure you use the thicker wall tubing.... it really does make a difference..... my 2 cents... lol

Just about everything is louder than Racing Beat, so if noise is your primary concern then Racing Beat is probably your best solution. Flowmaster will blow out and rotary engines are not covered by their warranty. Borla is fine but generally a little louder than Racing Beat. I don't have any experience with Maganaflow, but maybe some RX-8 owners can chime in.

I agree with the Racing Beat crowd. I've run their header, presilencer and muffler on an RX4 with the stock carb, Dellorto, 465 Holley and 550 Holley . Very quite, nice performance, high quality.
I've also run their set up on a GSL SE with the 600 Holley set up. Same results. If only I could say that about the Holleys!

I've ran a full racing beat, on a 86 na, loved it, I have a racing beat cat back on my 87 they are made for Mazda so I honestly think racing beat is the best way to go, good luck

I've run a bunch of RB stuff but would like to try something new.
I've been kicking around the idea if getting a Borla Hush (built for Wrx) and retrofitting it to a rotary. Subies can be quite loud when improperly muffled, and the Hush is totally free flowing but actually quieter than a stock Wrx muffler at Wide open throttle. Sounds amazing too!!!
Until I have $600 to throw out on a crapshot experiment, I'll be sticking with Racing Beat

I have had the Racing Beat cat back for 10 years. Still looks great, no noticeable sound difference over stock. One of my stock mufflers rusted off so I got the RB. No regrets at all. I saw people trying to use regular car mufflers. Sounded bad and I doubt they lasted very long.

I would go with racingbeat. I have their system on my 2 and I love it. I actually have glasspacks on the rx7 (against the advice of everyone on here) and they work great, no issues with them overheating or anything...although, if it were anything but a stock NA there might be an issue.
