Battery Charge Light, Goes Off When "Shift Up" Light comes on?

Sorry to post another thread already, but the logicon issue I'm working through right now and figured I'd ask this as well.

My battery charge light is on, and goes off each and everytime the shift up light comes on. When the shift up goes off, battery charge comes back on.

I tested my battery with a multimeter, 12.8v when car is off, 13.5v when car is running with the efan on.

I assume this is an issue with wiring or the idiot lights? My Rx7 is an 87 turboII, but has a full s5 conversion. The alternator I noticed is also s5. So I plan on checking the alternator wiring with the diagram in the FAQ, I just find it odd that it reacts to the shift up light.

Thanks.

Please forgive me as I'm not the most well-read on S4-S5 swaps, so this is a best guess answer. Was your swap done with a N/A or TII harness? N/A ones run the alternator connector through the Engine, Front & Dash harnesses and then back out under the hood in the Emission Harness, while TII's have them in the Engine Harness only. It MAY be related to this.

Another idea could be that the cluster and warning light grounds need cleaned up.

Last, and this is a longshot at best is that a prior owner didn't tackle the wiring part of the swap correctly.Foxed.ca has both wiring diagrams, so grab them both as you'll need them
