Welcome to the forum and congrats on your new SE! Being an 85, the only red available was Sunrise Red, which is color code RH. This does not appear to be Sunrise Red. This looks more like Persimmon Red Metallic, which was available only in 1984. The color code is a two character, letter and number, stamped onto the vin plate on the firewall. Can you post a picture of that? From there we can tell you what the exact color is or was originally.

that's a really nice SE. as stated above, yes, if you check the firewall, there should be silver plate that will give you the color code for the car.
it does look like Persimmon, so maybe if you check the build date, it may clear up some discrepancy. i trust the information mazdaverx713b gave you (about it being an '84 color), so i'd say it's worth looking into.
