Back to front heater

Hi all
This is my first post.
I have just got my dream car (1992 jap fd) and one of it's many problems is that when the heater is turned to demist it blows at the floor and when put to the floor it demists the screen well kind of. I am a mobile mechanic but this one is a new one on me. I would be pleased to hear any help. Thanks guys

I'm not an FD guy, but based on every other car I have ever driven, this sounds as if it is by design. I don't think I've ever been in a car that didn't do this.

Maybe someon else will chime in?

Thanks Aaron cake. All the cars I have had it's a case of move the controls to demist and they demist and when you move them to the floor they warm your feet. You may be right though in this case as I have never had a Mazda dofor.
I have since removed the dash and found a broken actuator motor on the resurk side and fixed that but after putting it all back together found that it's still the same.
Hope someone can let me know if it's normal or not. Cheers guys
