Auxports

I have a 88 vert. It has the stock exhaust manifold on it, but no cats, and motor cylcle mufflers. So I was thinking maybe my ports aren't working cuz there isn't enough back pressure in the system. I was just wondering if anybody else had port problems or can just tell me some common reasons why Aux ports stop working. Thank you.

That must sound terrible.

There is a testing procedure on my website for the aux ports: http://www.aaroncake.net/rx-7/6porttest.htm

If you don't have cats, they probably are not opening. You can connect them to the airpump to run the actuators. Follow the instructions in the 2nd gen Archives.

You would have to use a electric pump. Here is a site with the procedure on it. http://www.rotaryresurrection.com/1s...elec6port.html. It would be a good idea to keep the pump and use that to activate your ports because the electric pump you are using would eventually fail because its not ment for that type of use. Here is a help full site if you are keeping your air pump http://www.rotaryresurrection.com/1s...elec6port.html. I have a 88 s4 engine, you may have a s5 but hopefull this will help. post your results on here if ya don't mind it would be helpful.

The easiest thing is to just keep the air pump. Removal often causes more problems then it ever solves. Also remember that if you remove the air pump, you need to switch to a dual belt alternator pulley.
