automatic counterweigh 12a

my friend is looking to do a 12a swap in his beetle, and for the trans adaptor/clutch kit, it says it needs the automatic counterweight for the same year of his motor.

are these easy to find, and does it sound like its legit that it needs this for a 12a going on to a manual bug transmission.

The counterweight balances out the rotating assembly, it's most definitely needed. You will also need to know what year of 12A your friend has. Go to Racingbeat.com and check out their clutch flywheel page for more info. They also carry the counter weights. Cheaper option is to use the stock flywheel, only the light weight flywheels need the counter weight.

well for the bug swap the dude said I need a counterweight, their kit comes with a flywheel and a clutch kit, I guess so it can still use the stock bug 4spd, so it can spline in correctly.
