Greetings rotorheads, i bought this kit from atkins rotary for my 83 gsl 12a and when i put it on the ac studs it hits what looks like an oil hard line.. i know people have encountered this but i cant find any info on it on the site... is there a kit that relocates the oil line? or a mod i can do? any help is appreciated. if pics are needed ill post them.

this is the pic with the bracket on. you can see the oil line behind the lower part of the bracket and it hits the bracket.

 

Can you snap a shot where the oil line hits the bracket.,front view,showing the actual spot where it hits??
How many bolts will hold that bracket on?Can you shave the bracket itself without touching the oil line,as really the bracket is just there to hold a alternator.The alt just needs to have a belt snug enough to supply juice.
Your pic shows the bottom left(where the hols is for a bolt) where To me,it could be a little "finessed" to allow that bracket to sneak by the line.

 

heres one with the bracket off. you can see the curve in the line as it wraps around the back of the bracket.
EDIT: i want to sort of bend the line but i fear of breaking it and not having a car to get around in... but if theres a kit that moves it or a mod i can do, im up for anything. i want this bracket to go on because i plan a supercharger setup on it and i need the space up top

 

Well,a couple things come to mind here,but I am One guy answering.I'll post up my thoughts anyways.
1: cut the corner of the bracket.you do not need that much support there and the support you have is plenty.You got 4 other mounting
points.
2: take off the oil line,go to a hydraulic shop and have another one made that will fit without hitting that area.(you will break it if you bend it).
or 3; extend the bracket out using longer studs and use some spacers equivalent to the spacing so that the Bracket still uses all the mounting points but is further out from the engine.You would need a slightly longer alternator belt.

 

havent thought of the cutting part. that really sounds like something i can do since i have some metal fabbing background. before i do that ill see how much needs to be removed and ill make a judgement. good thinking, thanks hopefully others will chime in and give some insight so ill be patient haha

 

Even if you bring the bracket out,say about 3/4 of an inch with some "spacer type bushings"(like one THICK assed washer..lol),you could always weld those to the bracket and make the Mount and the spacers as ONE unit..
Put that onto the extended studs,it would be solid as a rock.

 

never liked the kit much. You can't run a dual alternator pulley with it... The extra belt rubbed on stuff (can't remember what exactly, its been a long time.) Thing just sits on the shelf now.

 

Kit is installed and belt rubs the dizzy on the inside belt so I just used the outside pulley. But now that it is installed, my alternator doesn't respond to the voltage.. could this be a ground problem due to the anodized aluminum?

 

If the bracket is powdercoated clean it so that you get a good ground point,
Hell,if anything is powdercoated and needs ground,clean that area to get a proper contact.
Which alternator are you using?..is it "other than stock"?.
Aluminum is a great conductor by the way.

 

Alternator is factory for now.
