apex seal trouble?

I just bought my first rx7 a week ago and I am wondering if it would be cheaper to just buy a new motor rather than rebuild or if I am wrong about what is wrong with the car.
I personally think that the engine has a cracked block, because when i started the car for the first time it spued water out of the exhaust. It also on the drive home over heated and lost a whole 2 gallons of water with in 2 miles. It is also had foul spark plugs. These are aall signs of a cracked block right?

You would have to rebuild the engine to fix either problem, and if the jacket has cracked, you could be looking at replacing housings/irons too. If the engine is allowed to sit with water in the combustion chambers, you'll end up with rusted rotors and housings (junk). Full rebuild kits are in the $1k+ range, and labor can be $2k+.

Atkins kits : http://www.atkinsrotary.com/index.php?pag=5
Atkins rebuilds: http://www.atkinsrotary.com/index.php?pag=9

Used replacements can be a cheaper option, but most will have high mileage & not really be a long term solution.
