Low compression over all three faces of the rotor is one sign of worn out Apex seals.

You can look at the apex seals by removing the exhaust manifold and looking through the exhaust ports.

when doing the test take the valve core out of the compression tester so it doesn't hold and build up pressure(ie you are checking each face as it makes compression). you are looking for equal pressure readings in the 120-90 psi range.

3 solid pops means all good on each face.

2 weak one solid shows a broken apex seal

1 weak 2 solid shows a broke or stuck side seal

3 weak pops means worn seals

other conditions exist beyond these but this is a guide line

Symptoms are hard starting and lose of power.

There is no more ideas to give. You either need to describe your car's problem (include what model you have) or do a compression test.

if the battery is known to be in good health and you've been on top of tuneup maintenance, then i think the only thing you should be worried about right now is getting the compression tested.

how fresh (mileage) is the engine?

when was your last tuneup?

You should also check the Alternator connections, and have the alternator tested as well.
