94' RX7 Found a line unconnected to anything by the filters with some sort of black HKS plastic cylinder in the line and I'm guessing it went to the old air intake setup from factory or something else. I was wondering if it could be deleted. It doesnt have vaccume on it when the cars running and it's just an air line as far as I know?
The stock air box has like 7 tubes connected to it, but not one of them looks like that. My stock one has this thing on one of the lines in/out of the air box. The small line goes back to the intake on the vacuum side (the other port next to the one that can be used for a boost gauge).

Pretty sure that's because that hose the OP is asking about is part of the HKS open intake set-up he pictured. It isn't stock. It's been years since my stock intake/air pump was in place but I THINK it's a silencer for the air pump 'Moo", the described sound you get from the air pump venting straight to atmosphere. On a stock intake the hose is silenced by the box itself.

I'm not sure what "this thing" you're referring to.
