Another will not start
Ive looked at all the other threads so don't be to hard on me.
I have an 86 gxl that turns over but will not start it doesn't even try to start. Ive checked spark and fuel those are good. I'm getting 6 good puffs when turning over.
So I'm not real sure what else to check. Any help would be nice at this point I'll try anything to get this thing running. Thanks in advance.

Pull the 40A EGI INJ. fuse, pull the spark plugs, put something to catch fuel spatter over the spark plug holes, turn the key about three times (5-10 seconds per try), thoroughly clean the plugs, reinstall them, put the 40A EGI INJ. fuse back in, start car.
Try that.^ Your spark plugs may already be fouled, though... Buy new ones.

Ok guys, I tried the unflooding procedure replaced plugs and wires, and nothing, then I tried the AFT trick and it started right up and smoked like crazy but it will not stay running unless I keep it revd up then when it shuts down it won't start again unless I put in more ATF. Any other suggestions?

2 things come to mind: low compression or excess fuel due to stuck/dirty injector.
OR..is the AFM disconnected?

If you'd like to test the injectors, to see if they're leaky... You can strap/secure the injectors to the fuel rails. Unbolt and remove the fuel rails. (There's an illustration of this in the 88' FSM. "Fuel and Emission Control Systems" 4A-70) - Obviously you do not remove the injectors or any of the fuel lines. Be sure to set some rags or something under the injector's fuel outlet nozzle, to absorb fuel in case they are stuck open. Jumper the yellow fuel pump test connector at the passenger side strut tower, near the AFM. Turn the key to "ON"... Not to "START". You'll hear the fuel pump running... Now go check the injectors to see if they are spewing/leaking.

BTW, there are some on this forum who say ATF will eat the rotor housing o-ring seals. I don't know one way or the other. But, at least if you use regular oil you are using a fluid that is supposed to be in there anyway to lube the seals. It worked fine for me.
