Are all 10th anniversary's Turbo
I googled it and think that is the case but can't tell for sure. Also wanted to get soem opinions. It does not run and looks pretty beat up. Its local so I can tow myself. My budget is about 3500 initial investment so if I talk him down to under 1000, maybe 700 I could get a JDM engine and through it in there. Maybe rebuild and port the old one. I know its not a lot to go on but just wondering thoughts.

700 for a Jdm engine?..that runs??..(excuse me while I pee myself laughing!)
Rebuild the one that is in the car,,save money.
You'd only be buying more junk and then rebuilding the JDM engine anyways.

and the 10th AE hold their value better than anything pre-FD so keep it original. yes they're all turbo, they also have factory added options no other 7 has had past or present. (they also had the worst paint of any RX7)

Picking it up tomorrow. He said it was hard to start it up when it ran and it has sat for a while. There is no rust. Possible the engine is ok too! Either way I got a great deal.

I got it! It was in much better shape then I thought. The paint had come off in a lot of places but he spot primed it to protect it. The thing is all stock and the body is in great shape. He got it off the original owner and it had all the paper work in the dash. All the service papers, manual, even the window sticker and final bill which I thought was really neat. It has a 10th anniversary labra that is in perfect shape. They paid 28K out the door in 1988. That was not cheap!
He said it did run still ran a few years ago when he bought it but it was difficult to crank and had low compression. The clutch pedal is stuck and the batter is dead. I am going to mess with the clutch cylinders today and see if I can get pressure and grab a new battery and plugs.
I plan to completely restore it myself where possible. I want to keep it very clean and close to stock except for some bolt on hp. I am already under budget which means I should only blow my original budget by 150%
I know its going to take a while and be expensive but man there is something about it being a 10th anniversary that just makes it that much cooler to me. I even like the white wheels and I am not a white wheel person.
I have a haynes manual, much more patience than I had when I got my first 7, of course the forum, and the piggy bank to support the project. Any suggestions? I figured I will just get really organized and bag an tag everything as I take it all down. Rebuilt the engine and get it running. Then get it painted and do the interior last. Thanks for all the help on this!
