Air pump

I am planning on putting an aftermarket intake on my rx but to do so it looks as though I have to take the air pump and air box out. Will there be any problems with the car running if I take the air pump out?

What year is the car? Do you still have cats installed? The S5 NA cars, for instance, use the air pump to run the 5/6 ports and VDI. This is why it is helpful to post what you are working on when asking querstions in this section as each 7 can be different.

The answer is the same for a GSL-SE, S4 NA, S4 TII and S5 TII. Air pumps can be removed, but you need to remove the cats too. The water pump pulley will also slip now that is has half the belt contact that it used to, so a double alternator pulley + 2 belts is suggested. A "yoohoo" belt can also be used (small belt stretched around the main pulley and water pump pulley), but these must be the perfect size or they'll slip too.
