Air Pressure Blown To My Face

Hey Guys! Another noob question from me. I was trying to find a screw to put a ground connection to. So I found one in the bay unscrewed it then a pressure of air was blown to my face.

Picture of said part I unscrewed:

Question: What part is this? Also, is it ok that I opened it for a bit? I screwed it back right away. Will my engine suffer consequences for opening it? Cheers!

that looks like the a/c dryer.

opening it will not affect your engine, but you just released some of your refrigerant.

A '99 car will have R134a in it, unless a previous owner changed it to something else. There should be a sticker somewhere under the hood that indicates what refrigerant was used (i.e., R134a) as well as the A/C compressor lubricant and the amount needed for each.
