Air Intake Suggestions

go with a better drop in filter or you can go aftermarket. there are plenty of companies that make good kits. check rx7.com or mazda trix. do not try to rig a filter and just let it lay in the engine bay. Save money and do it right. I got and apexi for my S5 vert and it has the hook up for the air pump which is nice if your still running emissions.

Personally I don't think much of open intakes on an FD but sometimes they're the only choice with some of the big SMICs. Otherwise any intake that sources air from outside the engine bay....a true CAI, is preferred. Old M2 boxes or SR Motorsports intakes with K & N's are great, fit with most common aftermarket SMICs and have all the needed hook-ups for the airpump etc.
Not sure about Florida, but if you have emissions and deal with visual inspections there's an easy modification available for the stock airbox that does just that. With a K & N it's as effective as anything.
Also just as a side-note, it's helpful if you post information on what model RX7 your asking about so we don't have to look at your profile.

Thanks for the feed back and that is a good point. I should have mentioned it is for 95 rx7. And the nice thing about florida is there are no emission or vehicle inspections so I can pretty much do what I want. I am just trying to get some ideas because this is my first rx and the motor is out and I am going to rebuild it when I get back from this trip.
