Aftermarket injectors for 87 N/A?

I'm posting this for a buddy. He has an 87 13B N/A and was having trouble with the car DUMPING fuel whenever it felt like it. Some mornings it will start and run awesome, some it will run like a diesel haha.

So, instead of researching what injectors may work or searching for OEM replacements (assuming an injector was sticking open), he went ahead and bought RC 440cc injectors part #SL9-440 (stock is 460cc, right?).

Will these work okay for his car or has anyone had any first hand experience with them?

Well for one thing they are HI impedance.Does your car have the Resistor pack?
then the wiring will need to be altered to use these...twice..as you have to bypass the resistor pack and also change the off set tab connectors to center notch.

I told him to cancel the order. What is suggested for replacement/repair? Should we get them rebuilt? If so, who should we contact?

Injectors hardly ever go Bad..they just get dirty.
I would just get them cleaned as my Friend states and ask the shop to give you new grommets, O-Rings and Spacers for them.
I am sure Witchunter usually does that anyways.

another shop is Injector-Rehab Fuel Injector Cleaning Services and Keith there will do that for you too.

OH,additional info you asked about:
Injector impedance is the electrical resistance of the injector.
they are either LO or HI.
LO is about 2-4 and Hi is about 11-14..(give or take..but Very noticeable when you measure it with an OHM Meter)
NOW LO's are in 86-87.5 Year RX7's and HI are in 87.5-88 year RX7's...BUT they can be swapped IF you know what you are doing.(in which case you had to ask,so I will assume, not).

You can Check the Part Number ON the injector with the List in the Frequently Asked Questions Thread located UP top of this section..you just have to scroll and hunt for it..it is there.
that will verify what you have.

Now If you just send the Injectors out for cleaning, you do not have to worry about this,as they should be Ok to use once they come back from service.. IF they were the original injector and the car hasn't been Molested or altered in that aspect.

Wow thank you for the info haha. Yeah, I'm clueless when it comes to these engines. My buddy tore the injectors out and is prepping them to be sent to witch hunter.

Thank you guys for your help. Hopefully witch hunter can get them in better shape.
