aftermarket fuel gauge flutter

I installed aftermarket gauges in my first gen '79 and the fuel gauges flutters around while driving. Come to a stop and it stabalizes. Any help? The gauge puts out a 5 volt reference voltage and the level sensor is like 80 to 10 ohms full to empty. Thanks

Sounds like Fuel Slosh. The float on the sender is going up and down giving you level problems,so the gauge would read F to E and E to F as the gas level swooshes the float up and down.
You may want to check to see that the baffling around the sender/pump unit is adequate so that fuel slosh is ruled out.

Gotcha. I figure its the fuel sloshing around but with the factory gauge it worked properly. After the V8 went in and the new gauges this happened. Figured it was just the new gauge reading TOO accurately and not enough delay between recycles/input checks causing it to ask as fast as the tach lol.

I can't comment on that aspect Stan.If it sensitivity adjustable then it could be.
The Old gauge, well it's dino-engineered compared to the new stuff.
Try the Other Engine Conversion section to see if there is info that you can use.
