actuator fittment

actuator fittment

i have an S5 with broken aux rods. would anything from any other year work as far as the rods go?

You'll need to replace them with S5 actuators.

I have the actuators, just the rod piece broke. Sweet, as long as S3 rods will work.

I just figured you'd replace them. I've never tried to pull them apart, so I don't know if that will work.

The actual rods that go into the LIM may be different. GSL-SE and S4 function the same (pull-type), but S5s rotate the sleeves the opposite way (push-type). If you use pieces from the earlier versions you might find the arm (where the actuator connects) and the slotted end that grabs the sleeve don't line up the same way. I also don't know how feasible it is to try to remove/replace the rods. I believe they're pressed into the LIM, so you might be able to tap them out with a deep socket or piece of tube.
