93 keeps dieing

I recently bought a 93 FD. It seems to die alot whenever i give alot of gas then let go. If i leave it on to sit for 5 minutes or so it will die. There is some smoke comming out of the back and it smells like its running rich. If anyone knows what may the problem of the car dieing please post.

Check that your map boost sensor hose is plugged in. It's in the engine bay right in front of the driver. If that comes loose you can get crappy performance.

Also check the ECU for codes. It might be in limp mode due to a code.

If neither of those is aproblem, go to a rotary shop or mazda dealer and get a compression test done. If the car needs any work, don't use the dealer - but they are good for compression tests.

Has the car been doing this since you bought it?

If your car has a aftermarket ecu you may want to check your tune. If the tune is ok you make have issues with your injector leaking or ignition issue. You may also want to check your compression when the motor is warm. Your housing may be warped.
