Your best bet is to search for other threads on the topic to see what people think and have done. Search in the Engine Conversions section.

Good luck.

Hmmm, go with the 13b-rew. Dont ruin another Rx-7 with a v8. Theyre for muscle cars like the mustang and they should stay there.

If you can afford the price difference, go LS2. T56 trans works for either motor, just boils down to gearing (GTO T56 vs Fbody T56)

Gave up on the rotor already, eh?

Pick up a Chevy "High Tech" magazine, Car Craft or check out our V8/RX-7 rogues for a better opinion on what to do and how much money it's gonna burn getting there.

except the LS7 will cost much more...get comparable performance hp wise from a well built albeit older LSx platform.

Of course LS7 would be better...like saying a 13B is lame when you can get a 20B

Or... or you could save your self money and get a corvette and let rotar heads have the rx-7. i love rx-7s and i love v8's but i will never mixed the two that's just retarded imho ill buy a Corvette that's the American rx-7 the c5 corvette was created with the rx-7 and cars like 300zx in mind of styling and performance/weight (wiki it) plus its more comfortable for taller people. my friend has a corvette and its an awesome car because its sounds bad *** and its quick but a v8 aint no rotary it just dont drive like one plus everybody's got v8's nowadays even Hyundai's have v8's, but rotary are the few the proud id like to keep em that way. now i see more and more 2jz motors in fd's what the hell people. now twin turbo 20b thats sick.

If I were taking the time and money to do an LSx swap then I'd go with an LS3.

my last car was a ws6. it was fantastic and i do plan on doing the swap eventually. look at it this way ls2 costs a lot more than a ls1 does for whatever reason. 400 hp from an ls2 stock vs 325hp ls1 stock. for the price your going to pay for parts for the ls2 you can make just as much power out of the ls1. so either way its your choice. going to make about the same power for the same money.

lol anybody considering a piston swap is most likely not interested in a bigger rotary. from what i gather its a popular swap, but its a pain in the *** for about the same reliability. swap to a LSx and you get power, torque, cheaper parts, and reliability all in one nice package. Not hating on rotaries though so try not to flame.
