WI 91 Vert-Luggage Rack, OEM or Aftermarket?

Hi,

I have a '91 stock N/A convertible. I have seen pics of other verts with a trunk lid mounted luggage rack that I like a lot. Was this a Mazda option, or is it an aftermarket item? I have looked at the maintenance manuals online and have found no reference to a luggage rack, so I suspect that it is aftermarket.

Anybody know whether one was offered or not?

Ken

I did a search and didn't find any threads mentioning luggage racks. I also checked the parts lists y'all have online and didn't find anything.

Here is the latest rack I have seen and like very much. It almost looks as though it could have come from an MGB or other British sports car.

I particularly like the small spoiler for the back bar. Minimum drag, but help to stick the rear end.

That looks good in my opinion. But it may not be hugely functional, more aesthetic.

WI Ah Ha!

In the 1988 "Mazda Finish Line Accessories" flyer, that is posted in your Specifications thread, there IS a Luggage Carrier listed under "Dealer Installed Accessories!" The photo I posted earlier is a 1988 Vert.

Is this an 'Ah Ha!' moment?

The owner of the white '88 Vert (it's for sale btw) got back to me and informed me that the luggage rack is from Proline Racks. Specifically, it is a trunk Deck Rack.

I think I'm gonna get me one...
