91 Rx7 won't turn over

So i just bought a 1991 rx7 with a rebuilt motor, 3 miles on the rebuild when i picked it up from the mechanic. I took it home and replaced the battery right away because the old one was completely dead. had to push start it when I got gas on the way home. I let it sit for a day before I tried to start it again, and it wouldn't turn over. we managed to push start it again, and it would turn over after that on its own. The next morning you couldn't even hear the starter, something had drained the battery overnight, I recharged it and had to push start it again, but after that, it turned over on its own. I left the battery unplugged after that so it wouldn't get drained again, the next time i tried to start it, it wouldn't turn over. I was by myself, so i didn't attempt to push start it again. Basically, the motor won't turn over if it sits for an extended period of time, and something is draining the battery, but theres no parasitic drain, which i checked for already. I'm willing to try anything right now to get it to run reliably. Any help is appreciated

If you left the battery disconnected and it still drained, you need to have it load tested. I assume you're using a multimeter to check battery voltage too, right?

the battery only drains when its left plugged in, i'm thinking its the popup lights, because the passenger side is stuck up because the fender was hit and it messed up the motor. I'm gonna be replacing the popup motor so the headlights work properly, but i still don't know why it won't turn over

No, its not the starter either, because after you push start it, it'll turn on with the key, it doesn't start when it sits for more than a day or so, there's nothing wrong with the engine itself, it runs like a champ when it'll turn on, just can't figure out why it won't turn over

Anywhere the car was hit in an accident is a very good place to start looking for a short. All it takes is one small wire touching the chassis to drain the battery over time.
