I started by reading the threads I saw regarding gas flow problems...

I got this car last year from a guy who let it set since 2008.

I drained the fuel and replaced it with ethanol free 87.

I replaced the fuel pump with an equivalent (not high flow or high pressure).

I replaced the fuel filter.

The fuel pump won't come on with the key. I checked everything the manual told me to and it still doesn't come one. I ran a switch from the ignition main power to the back of the relay to bypass the system. Now fuel flow is great all the way to the connection right above the spark plugs.

The plugs wouldn't spark. The main fuse cover said 100 amp, but the main was an 80, so I changed it. Now I have spark.

I took off the triangle shaped, hard plastic air inlet on the passenger side of the throttle body. A friend of mine poured gas into the bottom hole while I operated the ignition. The car ran decent. We did this until the engine was warm. As soon as he stopped pouring gas, the engine would slow down and die no matter what I did with the accelerator.

I have no idea what to try next.

Any suggestions?

 

#1: the fuel pump will not activate with key on until the car actually starts.Then the relay in the AFM will kick the pump on.
#2: check to make sure that the AFM(air flow meter) is plugged in or the car will not run.It also will not run if the Intake system is disconnected in any way from the AFM to the Throttle body/.

 

Thanks. I'll remove my bypass switch once the car is running and see if that works.

Right now, I can turn the pump on manually with a switch and I have gas to the engine, but the gas isn't making it through the throttle body for some reason.

 

Clogged injectors.

 

If the car sat that long, should I try to clean them, or buy new ones?

 

You could have them professionally cleaned.

 

You cant clean them unless you have an ultrasonic setup. Like Satch said, you can have them professionally cleaned, or buy new ones. They usually charge about 25-30 bucks per injector.
